***You should have received an email from Rebecca Kinney about your assigned jobs. Let us know if you have not and we will send you a schedule.***
Thank you, Volunteers!
We could not do this event without your help. In order to raise money for Celiac research, support other therapy programs, and educate the public about living gluten free, a lot of work must take place first!
Below is a description of the weekend’s events and ways you can help. As you read, think of specific jobs you may be interested in performing.
First, however, we always need help getting the word out and promoting sales of Gala Dinner tickets and registration for the 5K. Tell as many people as you can about www.GreatGlutenFreeExpo.com, pass out flyers, and help put up posters.
**Make a list of people you know you want to see at the Great Gluten Free Expo, such as: Local school teachers/administrators, School nurse, Pediatrician’s office, Specialist’s office (GI docs and nurses), Church, Library, local Starbucks, and local Retailers. Don’t forget your social media contacts!! Utilize Facebook about once a week to remind your friends. Email, Twitter, etc, can make a great impact, especially when you include the link for www.GreatGlutenFreeExpo.com.**
We know you are busy, and appreciate your passion, commitment, and hard work. This event can save lives!!!
Here’s a basic overview of the February 24th and 25th weekend:
Gluten Free Gala – Setup will begin at 2Pm, and the dinner at 6Pm. Right now, tickets are $50 until Jan 30th and will go up to $60 after that. Volunteers can get them for $45 until Jan 30th, so act soon!! You will have to sign up with Christine Carr by contacting her at ccarr@bhamkidsandfamily.com. You must be a volunteer already committed to the event. The food is by Food Studio . 2Blu and the Lucky Stiffs will entertain with blues music, and then we will hear from Dr. Alessio Fasano, with an Iron Chef to follow, Jules Shepard included! In addition to the talents of Food Studio B, a special thanks goes to Happy Catering for help with all dishes and utensils and serving. A Gala ticket comes with an additional ticket to the vendor fair.
Making Tracks for Celiacs 5K – Setup at 6am, Registration at 7am, Race at 8am. Please encourage as many people you know to register and participate. Contact local tracks clubs, cross country teams, etc.
Vendor Fair – 10am-3pm; we will need lots of volunteers! This day includes a hall with vendors as well as classes and cooking demos. The sign up sheet has jobs in shifts, allowing you to also enjoy the event as much as possible. You will receive a DVD of any classes you miss. Care with Flair will provide childcare with registration, and Rudi’s is giving away free bread for visitors! Entry is $5 per person, over 12.
**The Windham Hotel on 280 is giving us a special rate of $64!!! Just tell them you are with the Gluten Free Expo. Several plan to stay there to make it easier coming/going to/from the event.
