This Sept 11th is a day to honor our country on this 10th anniversary of the attacks on our country and Freedom. BUT! It is also a wonderful day to get beautiful pictures of your family and support an organization trying to save the lives of precious children. At one time, we thought Bryan had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and would not live past 3. After our diagnosis, we were blessed to not have this dreaded disease. We cannot help but remember families everywhere suffering under this disease.
The disease affects more than just the diagnosed person because it takes the entire family to offer care. Plus, it is a genetic issue, so it can be passed along in other children.
Currently, there is no known cure for the disease, BUT there is a drug in development that has shown significant if not miraculous effects on SMA patients. In lab tests, the drug has been able to completely reverse the disease and see progress. Right now, the FDA is working on approving it for trial studies, so it can be used to combat this awful disease.
We are very close to seeing a cure for this disease, and your help is appreciated. This is where Pictures for a Cure comes in.
This is a fundraiser that all proceeds go to Stop SMA. This is a 100% volunteer organization established to bring awareness to this disease and funding research for this genetic disorder.
Picture for a Cure For SMA is a 20 minute mini session with one of Birmingham’s 12 best children’s photographers. The sessions are on September 11 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. For $350 you get a 20 minute session with 10-15 digital images.
Book your session now or you can make your donation to Stop SMA. We are so close to a cure.
